Promoting young talent in the region
For WWL, close cooperation with science is a key area for the future in order to drive forward economic and social issues in an innovative and pioneering way. This is why we have been continuously supporting scholarship holders in Westphalia for many years, including with the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship. The University of Münster, the University of Siegen, the Technical University of Dortmund, the Ruhr University Bochum and the universities in Bielefeld and Paderborn are all involved. Over 50 scholarships have been awarded so far.
Economic knowledge in schools
Acquiring knowledge about economic processes is essential for school pupils today. However, the information should not have to be taken exclusively from standard textbooks.
This is why the Westphalian Economic Archive (WWA) in Dortmund has launched the "Economic Knowledge in Schools" project. The Economic Society for Westphalia and Lippe supports this important project and has been funding it since 2014.
History lessons in the archive
Teachers are trained to use material from the WWA's collection of sources as an alternative to traditional textbooks for classroom practice. Since the end of 2012, school classes and groups of pupils have regularly come to the archive for extracurricular "history lessons" to work with selected sources on the history of the economy in Westphalia.
